Dr. Ruby Gelman
Dr. Gelman was born and raised in Reading, Massachusetts (Go Sox!) By the time she was 12 years old, she was already a model dental patient and had endured 11 tooth extractions and worn braces for 3 years! After graduating from Maimonides School in Brookline, MA, Dr. Ruby attended Barnard College of Columbia University for her undergraduate education. She then received her dental degree at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in 1998. Dr. Gelman completed her Specialty Training in Pediatric Dentistry from The Children’s Hospital of Buffalo/SUNY at Buffalo in 2000, where she also served as a clinical instructor in the department of Pediatric and Community Dentistry. Since beginning her practice of Dentistry, Dr. Gelman has happily made New York City her home.
Dr. Gelman is an active member of the New York County Dental Society, the American Dental Association, The Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and the American Association of Women Dentists. She participates extensively in continuing education programs for pediatric dentists and has particular interests in the areas of prevention of dental disease, minimally invasive dentistry and sleep disordered breathing. Dr. Gelman is proud to have written and been quoted in several published articles and is often asked to serve as a guest expert to talk about kids and dental health. Dr. Gelman is extremely proud to have been chosen for Red Tricycle’s 2016 Totally Awesome Award for Best Pediatric Dental Office in NYC, and Nickelodeon Parents Picks as the best pediatric dentist in New York City for 2009!
Dr. Gelman has many interests outside of dentistry as well. Together with her husband, Dr. Gelman proudly supports Legal Outreach, a college preparatory program committed to the success of urban youth from underserved communities in New York City. Dr. Gelman is also proud to serve as an event chair for Cookies for Kids’ Cancer as well as a member of the Family Benefit Committee for the Children’s Museum of Manhattan. In her time outside of the office, Dr. Ruby loves to cook, exercise with her family and see Broadway shows!
Dr. Gelman lives in Manhattan with her husband Shimon Shkury and her children Ari and Avital. She is dedicated to providing pediatric dental care in a warm, nurturing environment and very much looks forward to welcoming you to her practice!
Dr. Leah Fine
Dr. Leah Fine grew up in Merrick, New York. She then moved to Atlanta, Georgia to pursue her undergraduate education at Emory University. At Emory, Dr. Leah obtained a B.S. in Biology and graduated as a member of the National Society for Collegiate Scholars.
Dr. Leah continued her education at Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine, where she received her dental degree and graduated with high honors. As it was always Dr. Leah’s dream to provide dental care to children, she then went on to complete a two-year specialty-training program in pediatric dentistry at St. Barnabas Hospital in New York.
Dr. Leah is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. After completing her written boards in May 2014, she was awarded with the Richard C. Pugh Achievement Award, an honor given to the top three percent of scores in the country. Dr. Leah is also an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Dental Association, and the New York State Dental Association.
Throughout her dental career, Dr. Leah has been very active in community outreach for children. Through various organizations, she has provided dental services to both the underserved and special needs pediatric populations. In particular, Dr. Leah has completed extensive training at the Rose F. Kennedy Children's Evaluation and Rehabilitation Center.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Leah pursues many interests that include spending time with family and friends, traveling, Pilates, and she has recently taken up a love for cooking.
It is Dr. Leah’s goal for every child to have a fun and positive experience at the dentist. She looks forward to meeting you soon!
